Robert Cheasty is the former President and a founding member of Citizens for East Shore Parks (CESP). He is an attorney, renowned environmentalist, and for nearly four decades has worked to protect our shoreline and planet through mobilizing, advocacy, science, and legal justice.

For more than 10 years, he served as President of the Bay Dredging Action Coalition, an organization dedicated to ecologically sound and efficient dredging solutions in San Francisco Bay. Its successful efforts have helped to ensure the continued vitality of shipping in the region while using the clean dredge material for wetland restoration projects around the Bay.

Cheasty has also served as Mayor of Albany and held numerous public positions with the Albany Redevelopment Board, Albany Pension Board, Albany Earthquake Preparedness Program, Solano Avenue Association, and League of California Cities. He was president of the Solano Avenue Association from 1989-91, which produces the annual Solano stroll, hosting 200,000 people per year. In addition to serving as Executive Director for CESP and his community activism, he also heads a Berkeley law firm specializing in civil litigation.
